Primary Architectural Types - Enterprise, Solution & Technical

In early 2006 the BCS published my first ever public article entitled ‘the rise of the architect” (https://www.bcs.org/content-hub/the-rise-of-the-enterprise-architect/) this was  subsequently followed by further publications aimed at sharing some insights from my project work. However, this first article was special because I quoted for the first time how ,“Over the past decade a new function / job title has risen in prominence, i.e. one of the 'architect'” something that still resonates today, with one difference, where architects are now embedded within most organisations.

Recently I re-read this first article  and felt I should expand on it and wrote a follow up on what I see as the ‘primary’ types of systems architects that spawn of the architectural roles (see diagram below) we find out there today.

To avoid repetition I will not reproduce the original article submitted, which differs slightly, on my blog as it can be found on the BCS Content hub at the following address ;
